In work and life, I strive to make the world a more beautiful place. Although I do not subscribe to any particular style, I make every effort to fashion clean, efficient, and timeless solutions. I often feel that the most elegant and powerfully striking designs are sown from simplicity. I promote an honest expression of clean, simple, functional forms and practical solutions. My goal is to help clients organize their surroundings into a purposefully well-designed environment. A space should reflect the personality and the spirit of its inhabitants and rest easily within its surroundings. I strive to synthesize my clients needs and desires with the given parameters of their particular project, in order to find the most appropriate expression. Regardless of scale, design is only as good as the sum of its parts.

I believe that our time on this planet is on loan from the generations that will follow, and I am a creative proponent of reusing, recycling, and reclaiming. My point of origin for any project is to begin work by examining the potential of what exists at hand. Within the practical boundaries of budgets and time constraints and in order minimize environmental impact, I strongly support sustainable, ecologically conscious choices for materials, services, processes, and systems. I also firmly believe that the true key to a community's long-term sustainability lies in supporting the local economy. Given a feasible choice for materials and services, I will always advocate locally and regionally sourced products and resources.

who and why I am

As a native of Sweden, where I was born and raised, my aesthetics and outlook on life are strongly shaped by a culture rich in tradition. My design tendencies reflect clean visual and functional practicality paired with environmental responsibility, the hallmarks of modern Scandinavia. I feel that well-executed design tells a story of place, personality, and preferences. Integrating the old with the new, the weathered with the slick, and the rough with the smooth heightens the user experience and enforces the sense of place.I was trained as an architect at the University of Cincinnati and as a color specialist at the Scandinavian Colour Institute in Stockholm. Although my career has primarily been spent working with architects, and general contractors, I am not a licensed architect. Most of my work centers on providing creative solutions for interiors and gardens. For the past twelve years, I have immersed myself in the mysteries of gardening and horticulture. Since moving to Oregon my passion has blossomed into a full-blown obsession. My own garden serves as a constantly changing, often disheveled learning lab and testing grounds for ideas and plant combinations that I implement professionally in practice.Soon after moving to Portland, I began working with Sharon Tjäder of Design Concepts of Oregon (DCO) - a veteran interior designer and general contractor. The more than three years spent with her were invaluable in learning to work with contractors, plan and organize construction schedules, run projects, as well as other trade specific aspects of the art of building. What I learned from her has given me the courage and the confidence to venture out on my own.I greatly enjoy my work and the challenges I encounter daily. Optic Verve is the vehicle that allows me to break through the proverbial architectural skin and integrate my community's living and working spaces with the stunning natural beauty of the lush Pacific Northwest.
